Cefotaxime

Mechanism of Action: inhibits the final transpeptidation step of peptidoglycan synthesis in bacterial cell walls, thus inhibiting cell wall biosynthesis.

Side Effects:

  • Nausea,
  • Allergic reactions
  • Inflammation at the site of injection.
  • Clostridium difficile diarrhea.

It is not recommended in people who have had previous anaphylaxis to a penicillins.
